Wanless Park: A Proud Community
With the park at its centre, there’s a tight-knit community feeling here. Residents have taken responsibility for tree planting and other community activities that reflect their heightened sense of ownership and care in the area. A highlight of the year comes on May 24 weekend, with a locally organized and often spectacular fireworks display.
As with other North Toronto communities, Wanless Park is loved for the quality of its schools. The closest and most highly-rated schools include Crescent School, Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School, Havergal College, and Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute.
The park itself is the main attraction of the area and features numerous tennis courts, a basketball court, a playground, a waiting pool (with lifeguard), a baseball diamond, and plenty of grass to picnic or play on. In the winter, the park has a public skating rink that’s lit for nighttime skating.
Wanless Park is an easy 15-minute drive to the 401 and is within walking distance to Lawrence Station, which can take you downtown or across the city via the TTC.
You will find a lot of detached single-family homes in this area, with beautifully landscaped yards and private driveways. A number of the homes here face onto the park, which makes for a very appealing at-your-front-door experience.
