Have questions about staging a home? Carmen Wageman from Stage Right is here to give you answers.
Today I’m joined by Carmen Wageman from Stage Right to get some answers for the most common questions I receive from sellers about staging their homes before they go to market.
1. “How much does staging cost, and what kind of return can I expect?” Staging a home varies in price depending on what’s required. The cost could range anywhere from $2,000 up to $10,000, but the average cost seems to be around $4,000 or $5,000. The return on investment also depends, but it’s often close to 10 times what you spend on a project.
2. “How long does it take to stage a home?” If certain projects like painting need to be done, that’s usually finished weeks before Carmen will come out to stage a home. She brings in a huge team to transform the home. The transformation is actually pretty quick—only a day or so. The home photos can be taken the following day.
3. “What happens to the seller’s furniture?” If the seller’s existing furniture doesn’t take any of the value away from the room, we’ll keep it there and use it. However, if the furniture is dated, Carmen requires them to remove it. Depending on how much space they have in their warehouse, it can be stored there, but there are plenty of other places that homeowners can store their furniture for the short-term.
We stage about nine out of 10 homes that we list, and Carmen is always the one we turn to for help. If you have any questions about staging or selling your home in general, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
